Minneapolis is gearing up for its third Black Business Week, happening from July 24th to 30th. A week-long celebration including panel discussions, job fairs, workshops, and happy hours, offering a platform for learning about inclusive economic recovery and ways to build generational wealth.

Black business month is quickly approaching and It is a great time to be a black business in the Twin Cities! Join Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins as they host Minneapolis’ third Black Business Week!

Happening July 24 - 30, Black Business Week is centered around generational wealth and focuses on the ways in which Black entrepreneurs' current financial successes can be passed down to future generations. 

The theme for this year will be generation wealth. We have a chance to learn about inclusive economic recovery taking place across the city and various ways to build generational wealth.

This will be a week long celebration of business with panel discussions, job fairs, happy hours, workshops and so much more! We hope to see you there:

Black Business Week Kickoff Summit

Date: Monday, July 24th

Time: 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

About this event: Black business week will begin at 56 brewing with your co-hosted Mayor Frey and Council President Jenkins. You can learn about inclusive economic recovery, building generational wealth, resources for business owners, and shop with local vendors.

Ward 5 Job Fair

Date: Tuesday, July 25th

Time: 3 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Location: CareerForce, 800 W Broadway Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55411

About this event: This job fair is great for youth and young adults to seek employment with northside businesses. You can expect to find internships, jobs, and mentorship opportunities! This event is organized by Minneapolis Employment and Training Program (METP) and Council Member Jeremiah Ellison

Certified Access Info Session

Date: Tuesday, July 25

Time: 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. (noon)

Location: This is a virtual event.

About this event: Certified Access is a supplier development company building an ecosystem that supports Women of Color business owners in their efforts to obtain and benefit from certification. They will be holding an informational session to help your business get certified.

East African Panel Discussion and Resource Fair

About this event: This panel discussion is your opportunity to hear from East African women about being an entrepreneur.

The panel is moderated Business Advisor for Lake Street Council Yusra Mohamud. The panelists include Abyan Nur is the founder of Faceless Pro, Ifrah Jama founder of Jannah Fitwear, Miski an Advanced Esthetician/Nurse, and Amani Ahmed is an experienced logistics professional.

About this event: The Developer Technical Assistance Program (DTAP) is organizing a real estate tour. These tours feature Black-led real estate development projects, with a social hour to follow.

Tour A will follow ​​Alex Frank is a real estate developer and his newly constructed twin homes at 2406 McNair Avenue.

Tour B will follow Anissa Keyes is an emerging real estate developer, entrepreneur, and founder of Arubah Emotional Health Services. Tour her progress redevelopment at 705 N 42nd Avenue and learn about the Ownership and Opportunity Fund from program staff.

Doing Business with the City

About this event: Learn how your businesses can become a vendor for the City. This event will have a panel discussion with City staff and business owners. There will also be time for networking with City buyers and business support staff.
